Vaccination requirements
Yellow Fever: Vaccination is required if travelling from a country with risk of Yellow Fever Virus transmission and ≥ 1 year of age and for travelers who have been in transit >12 hours in an airport located in a country with risk of Yellow Fever Virus transmission.
Malaria: No malaria transmission.
Customs Regulations
Passengers over 18 years of age may import the following duty free items: 200 cigarettes or 250g of tobacco products or 50 cigars, I litre of spirits and 2 litres of wine or beer, 250 ml of Eau de Toilette and 100ml of perfume.
Plants, flowers, fruits, vegetables, bulbs and seeds must be declared (all require a permit from the Ministry of Agriculture) as must firearms and ammunitions. Imported animal products also require a permit and health certificate from the country of origin.
Banned Imports: Sugar cane and related parts thereof; soil micro-organisms and invertebrate animals.
Import requirements for pets animals
An import permit is required from the Ministry of Agriculture. Application forms for such a permit are available on written request by fax/mail.

Credit Cards
Mastercard and Visa are the most widely accepted ones followed by American Express and Diners Club.
Driving
Driving is on the left. Visitors with a driving licence issued by a competent authority in their respective countries are allowed to drive during their stay in Mauritius.
Repatriation of Mortal Remains/Transportation of Ashes of Mauritian citizens into Mauritius
A ‘Landing Permit of Mortal Remains’ or ‘No Objection Certificate for Transportation of Ashes’ must be obtained from the Ministry of Health and Quality of Life of the Republic of Mauritius prior to the repatriation of the mortal remains/ transportation of ashes to Mauritius.
Applicants must submit copy of the following documents to the Embassy for onward transmission to the Ministry of Health & Quality of Life of the Republic of Mauritius.
(a) Letter of request from Funeral Director/Parlor
(b) Passport of the deceased
(c) National Identity Card
(d) Birth certificate
(e) Death certificate mentioning cause of death
(f) Transit certificate
(i) Non-infectious certificate
(j) Certificate of embalming
(k) Letter of undertaking from family of the deceased to cover costs of repatriation
Following consideration of the above-mentioned documents, the Ministry of Health and Quality of Life will issue a ‘Landing Permit of Mortal Remains’ or ‘No Objection Certificate for Transportation of Ashes’ and forward same to the Embassy for onward transmission to the applicant.
